Blood Orange Sorbet Champagne Cocktails with Fresh Mint

This is the perfect beverage for the long Memorial Weekend ahead! I made this with my mom for Mother’s Day brunch using champagne, fresh mint from her garden and Ciao Bella Blood Orange Sorbet. Ciao Bella is an all natural brand that uses organic cane juice as the sweetener. While this is still technically sugar and should only be eaten in moderation, it’s much more pure and easy on the body to digest than processed white sugar found in most sorbet.

I used a scoop of this sorbet in each glass of champagne and added freshly chopped mint. It turned out so refreshing and unique. I can’t wait to try it with lemon sorbet and fresh mint! The sorbet was nearly all melted by the time I took the picture, unfortunately. But it’s still a really pretty drink when the sorbet melts.

I hope you enjoy your long weekend and, in between all the sunbathing and drinking, take time to remember all the men and women who gave their lives serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Flirtinis!

What better day to give you a recipe for an easy, strong and skinny cocktail than Friday?!  I first heard about flirtinis on an episode of Sex & The City and just had to try it.  It’s a genius and simple combination of vodka, champagne and pineapple juice.  It tastes like a mimosa made with pineapple juice…you can’t taste the vodka at all.  Which makes this a fantastic and dangerous little concoction!  If you have some grenadine on hand, add a splash to each glass for a bit of color and added sweetness (although this also adds to overall calorie intake).

I like to make these for those nights with the girls when wine just won’t cut it!  They are always a hit. They’re also a great brunch drink.  Just make sure your guests know there’s vodka in them!  These sneak up on you.  :)

On another note, I’m a proud May sponsor of one of my favorite blogs, Steph’s Bite By Bite, and she gave me a nice little write up today!  Check it out here and take a look at her AH-MAZING treats while you’re at it.  She’s quite the baker…and runner…she’s awesome.  :)   TGIF!!!
